5 Steps to Proving Your Disability

In order to win your claim for Texas Social Security Disability benefits you will have to navigate a 5 part test. The Texas Social Security office will evaluate:

  1. Whether you are currently working;
  2. Whether your ability to work is significantly limited by a physical or mental impairment;
  3. Whether your impairment meets or equals an impairment listed by the Social Security Administration;
  4. Whether the impairment prevents you from doing past relevant work; and
  5. Whether you cannot presently perform relevant work that exists in significant numbers in the economy.

It is your responsibility to prove points 1-4 to win your Texas Social Security Disability benefits. That is not the end however.

If you prove points 1-4, then the Social Security Office has the opportunity to prove point 5. If they are successful and you do not successfuly respond to their argument you will lose your case.
